Oman often gets discussed as one market, but Muscat, Sohar, Salalah, and Duqm serve very different purposes. For a company looking at warehousing, industrial assembly, and regional re-export, which location is the best first landing point?

Sohar is the first place I would test for industrial and port-linked operations serving the Gulf and Indian Ocean routes. Salalah is strong for transshipment and Indian Ocean connectivity. Duqm is strategic and long-term, especially for industrial and energy-related activity. Muscat is management/government/talent.
For energy transition and heavy industrial strategy, Duqm deserves a serious look, but timelines can be different. Companies that need immediate ecosystem depth may prefer Sohar first.
I would not compare them as substitutes. Muscat = headquarters/admin. Sohar = industrial/logistics. Salalah = transshipment. Duqm = long-term industrial/energy platform.
CityCalc should tag these as different city types rather than rank one above the other. Oman’s strength is the portfolio of nodes.
